Dobruška / A week after the end of the Poligrafia 2005 trade fair, very important for the Polish market, KBA-Grafitec recapitulated its results. At the actual exhibition four contracts were signed, whereas a whole range of contracts were concluded in the period running up to the trade fair.

It is not KBA-Grafitec's strategy to publish precise sales figures after trade shows. However, KBA-Grafitec as new member of the Koenig & Bauer Group has demonstrated its position in the elite group of suppliers and brings intelligent solutions to the market segment of small and medium printshops.

"This trade fair capped off the first phase after our direct entry onto the Polish market at the beginning of this year", said Jan Korenc, Vice President Sales and Service. He continued, "In the first four months we had three priorities: To start active sales, build a service team and bring direct marketing up to speed." All three areas have been successfully implemented. According to Jan Korenc, service activities for KBA-Grafitec products are a basic building block for serious relations with customers. They are either secured directly from Dobruška (20 km from the Czech-Polish border), or by Polish service partners. At present, KBA-Grafitec has five of these and they geographically cover the whole of Poland. They were retrained at the plant in February and March. The actual Poligrafia 2005 trade fair was a very prestigious event for the Czech producer. Sixteen live presentations and thousands of printed sheets caught the attention of customers and convinced them of the quality of KBA Performa printing machines.

Without doubt, the main attraction of the fair was KBA PERFORMA 74-5+L, a five‑colour version of the 13,000 sph sheetfed press in the 52 x 74 cm format, with an additional coating unit and semi-automatic plate change, including plate cocking.

The second press was a KBA PERFORMA 66-4 - a four-colour version of the SRA2 format printing machine with all important automatic elements. As with the SRB2 format range, the smaller SRA2 exhibit was equipped with the innovative GrafiControl remote control system, including the possibility of setting the diagonal register when the machine is in operation.

A novelty, introduced to the Polish market for the first time, was the CTP system from the American company Presstek. CTP Presstek Excel 425 is a universal, highly effective process-free CTP system, which makes workflow more efficient, producing thermal plates with high resolution and ensuring extraordinary printing performance. It is easy to use and provides reproducible results. Dimension Excel uses chemical-free thermal technology. No special lighting or maintenance of the machine is required. All costs for chemicals are eliminated, including costs for storage and disposal.
