Dobruška / The fourth CTP installed by Grafitec is a CTP Presstek Dimension 400 in the printshop of Petr Pošík in Poděbrady. The CTP was delivered with a SRA2 format Polly 466 printing machine and installed at the new premises of the Pošík Company, where operations were transferred at the start of the year.

Typically for CTP Presstek installation took just one day and the first set of printing plates was tested in the press the same afternoon.

Aside from the Polly 466 printing machine the CTP loads Dominant 715 and Heidelberg Printmaster 46-2 monochromatic plates. To cope with different formats the CTP was equipped with two Bacher pin systems with clearance of 220 and 425mm.

The Pošík Company has its own small DTP studio and setting-up and training of the electronic installation of PdfTools took just one day. An advantage here was prior experience with the issue of production and acceptance of documentation for printing in electronic form.

Part of the system of electronic installation is the generation of CIP4/JDF data for presetting the inking units. Tests of this system, which helps to shorten start-up and reduce maculature, began at once, as the Polly 466 printing machine is equipped as standard with this expansion of the PollyControl panel. Part of the CIP4/JDF system is optimisation of presetting which is based on comparison of generated CIP4/JDF data and final data stored with the job in the printing machine. Evaluation of data in this way leads to optimisation of the system so that the difference between the preset and final value is constantly reduced, which also results in a reduction of start-up time.

Proof of the satisfactory introduction of the CTP system/printing machine was the consumption of 250 CTP plates in the first fourteen days.
