4.1.2006 / Long, narrow format for vertical views

Dobruška / Radebeul / KBA’s monochrome calendar “Cities 2006” printed in 4c. Published by quality book and calendar specialist Edition Panorama, KBA’s new 350 x 1,000mm (13¾ x 39½in) calendar, “Cities 2006”, features twelve unusual shots by prominent German photographer Horst Hamann, whose profession has led him from his birthplace, Mannheim, to more than 70 countries on every continent, amassing a repertoire of horizontal and vertical panoramic views, all in black and white, that have won him countless national and international awards.

The format and the viewing perspective are not the only features that raise this calendar above the multitude of others. All the monochrome images were separated and printed in four colours for a finer tonal gradation and sharper contrast – a challenge for any printer. The calendar was printed on 170gsm Garda matt in a Rapida 105 B1 (40in) sheetfed press, with two inline applications of matt aqueous coating to protect the surface and enhance the visual impact. The back was also matt-coated. The result is a flat, smooth and almost reflection-free print.

The “Cities 2006” calendar will be mailed in specially printed paper and a laminated, coated B-flute envelope displaying all the views in miniature. Due to high prior demand and the high cost of production, KBA regrets that the calendar is available only to customers and allied enterprises.
