PERFORMA

KBA Performa 66-5 at Uniprint Rychnov nad Kněžnou

Since 1992 Uniprint, s.r.o., in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, has exclusively printed with printing machines from Dobruška. At the start of June the KBA Performa 66-5 had its premiere in the printshop. The machine was exhibited at the EmbaxPrint trade fair in Brno, where KBA-Grafitec presented itself as a member of the KBA group in the Czech Republic for the first time.

A team from KBA-Grafitec installed the Performa 66-5 at Uniprint in two days. "One day they brought the machine in, the next it was printing," as co-owner of Uniprint, Miroslav Kopecký, described the installation. In the short period since installation the new printing machine has printed 1.3 million sheets.

"Printing machines from Dobruška are characterised by an optimum ratio of price and quality. Performa-66-5 is already the eighth printing machine from the same producer, which our printshop has used since it began," said Miroslav Kopecký. SRA2 format KBA Performa 66 sheet-fed offset printers are in two, four and five-colour versions. They can be equipped with a perfecting unit. Performa 66 printing machines are the successors of Polly 66 printing machines, which are used in many small, medium and large printshops for printing the widest range of printed materials, including the most challenging reproductions of an artistic nature. The Performa 66 prints in the maximum format of 485 x 660 mm with a speed of up to 10,000 sheets per hour.

Exclusively with machines from Dobruška

The KBA Performa 66-5 is the first five-colour printing machine that Uniprint has bought acquired. Since 1992 the printshop has used four four-colour versions, two two-colour versions and one one-colour version - all printing machines were in SRA2 format and manufactured in Dobruška. Over the years the Uniprint printshop has become a medium-sized business. It now employs 45 people, of whom nine are printers, and employs other staff on an occasional basis. The printing machines are used to print 38 titles of various regional periodicals and all kinds of mercantile printed materials. In Prague, where most orders originate, the company has set up a commercial office. Renowned customers of Uniprint include Volkswagen Group, for which it prints catalogues used by car dealers in the CR. The printshop has participated in the cooperative production of forms for state orders for elections and the national census. Uniprint has its own studio and printing plates are prepared with CtP. About 2,500 printing plates are produced monthly. The company is equipped with technology for production of V1 and V2 bindings for finishing and binder's work. Finishing of printed matter at the printshop is performed by lacquering, lamination, embossing, die-cutting or foliation.

Uniprint, in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, is one of the long-term users of printing machines from Dobruška. "Polly and Performa machines are some of the best in terms of the ratio of utility value and price. Practically everything can be printed on them," says Mr Kopecký, who also values the level of service provided by the producer. After putting the KBA Performa 66-5 into operation the company is selling the four-colour version and plans to buy another printing machine. When deciding on the future investment Miroslav Kopecký, along with the other co-owners of Uniprint - Josef Janeček, Jiří Knopp and Karel Hynek, remains faithful to the SRA2 format and Performa printing machines.

The Uniprint printshop is based in a modern building on the outskirts of Rychnov nad Kněžnou.
